Things To Do With Your Dog in 2021

Happy New Year! As we (finally) say goodbye to 2020, and welcome 2021, many people are focusing on personal goals for the coming months. Why not include Fido in your agenda? A Michigan City, IN vet lists some things to put on your to-do list below.

Explore

Although there are some pups that are homebodies, the majority of them love going to new places. Let your canine companions indulge his taste for adventure.Take Fido to some pretty parks this year, or check out a new hiking trail with him.

Learn Something New

Did you know that many dogs actually like learning new things? The more well-trained your pet is, the better you’ll be able to communicate with him. This will help you and your furry pal develop a smoother, closer relationship. If your pooch already knows basic doggy obedience commands, like Sit, Stay, Come, Heel, and Lay Down, teach him some cute tricks!

Play

Fido is super playful. That joyful doggy exuberance can be a bit contagious. You can’t help but smile when watching a pup happily running after his favorite toy! Bring home new playthings for your pup regularly, and try to play with him every day.

Visit The Doctor

We know, most of our patients would rather visit the dog park than come see us. (We understand, and do absolutely everything possible to make appointments easy on them.) However, even if Fido would rather be napping, he’ll look and feel better with proper veterinary care.

Relax

While owls may have snagged the unofficial title of being the wisest animal, we can still learn a lot from our canine friends. Fido is a great example of the importance of appreciating the little things. As far as your pooch is concerned, small luxuries like bacon, belly rubs, car rides, and new toys are some of the best things in life. Dogs also have a way of reminding us to smell the roses. (Fido may actually take that last one a bit too literally, but the point still stands.) Spend lots of time with your four-legged friend this year. The time we have with our furry companions often passes much too quickly!

As your local Michigan City, IN veterinary clinic, we look forward to providing your furry friend with great veterinary care in 2021 and for years to come. Call us anytime!
